- Assistance should meet cultural and linguistic needs.
- Prevention is a primary component of victim services and supports.
- Gender-based assistance will be available when requested by victims of sexual assault.
- Communities have a primary responsibility for the well-being of their people.
- The services and supports will respect and build upon existing community strengths and structures, as well as those of the individual.
- All aspects of holistic healing are recognized, allowing clients to participate in the healing process of their choice.
- Clients have the right to accept, deny or postpone offers of service.
- All services and supports will be flexible and supportive.
- All services and supports will undergo a prescribed review process to ensure they are appropriate.
