Ah-shawah-bin Sioux Lookout / Lac Seul Victim Support Services relies on volunteers to provide effective short-term support and crisis assistance to victims of crime and tragic circumstance. A comprehensive screening process and ongoing training for volunteers ensures that victims are assisted with dignity, respect, compassion and empathy.

Requirements:
- must be 18 years of age or older
- genuine interest in, and awareness of issues surrounding victims of crime and tragic circumstance
- cross-cultural awareness and sensitivity
- ability to handle crisis situations and to provide sensitive and confidential service to victims
- acceptable Criminal Records Check
- able to commit to a minimum of one year of volunteer activity
- willing to complete 40 hours of minimum standards training and ongoing training and development
- willing to sign up for a minimum of 2 volunteer shifts per month
- victim services volunteers must have use of a car and possess a valid driver’s license and auto insurance
